Nominations have now closed for the May Local Elections and statement of persons nominated have been published. You can find out who is nominated to stand at the Parish Council level and the Shropshire Council level by checking our Local elections page of our website. Both elections are contested so you will have the opportunity to vote for both your parish councillors and the Shropshire Councillor for Llanymynech.

Are you interested in becoming a Parish Councillor?

No by-election was called for the vacancy occasioned the sad passing of Cllr Miranda Lawson. This means that the Parish Council can now co-opt someone to fill the vacant seat.

The Parish Council is therefore seeking applications from interested local people who wish to be considered for co-option to the Parish Council. We’re looking for someone with energy and enthusiasm for local matters. Members of the Council are also on the Knockin Village Hall Committee so this a varied and very rewarding role.

An application form can be downloaded below, please contact the Clerk if you require assistance or another format. Completed applications should be sent direct to the Parish Council Clerk by no later than 9pm on Friday 30.08.2024.

The Parish Council will consider all eligible applications received at the next meeting, to be held Tues 10.09.2024.

If you'd like to know more about joining the Council and what being a councillor involves, please speak with your existing councillors or contact the Clerk. You can also check out the Good Councillors Guide below (updated 2024) which is a great introduction to what being a councillor is all about.
